Drugstore Luscious Red Lips – How To (Maybelline ColourSensational)

6 Jul

Hey guys!

So I was having a little rummage through my (very large) make up bag earlier and found these two amazingly wonderful lip products – Maybelline COLORsensational lipstick and lip liners in 547 ‘Pleasure Me Red’ (even the name is hot, am I right or am I right?!)

I’ve used these babys together on many a night out and they’ve done me well so I just thought I’d them with you. As they’re Maybelline, you know they’re going to be good but affordable. Both have a really strong, long lasting deep red pigment, and give whoever wears it out the absolute WOW factor!! The packaging for the lipstick is also really attractive, deep see through red top over a silver bottom. I’ve attatched a picture so you can see. Keep these guys in your handbag and go from work to party in a flash!!

Anyway, here’s how to get long lasting, luscious red lips for that big night out. (takes two seconds!) Also just if you’re wondering, the images are different colours just because the sun started shining in the last one (I took them in my bathroom, haha!).

Before you begin, if you have dry or chapped lips I would recommend you use your toothbrush to buff away the little bits of skin, just so you have a smooth canvas to paint on. It makes it a lot more comfortable for you and looks much more appealing. Obviously. I’ve had a cold so that’s my excuse for having dryness around my mouth, sozzles!

After you’ve done that, line the edges of your lips very lightly at first with the lip liner. Build it up as much as you like, it doesn’t really matter anyway! This makes your lips appear much fuller, which is always a good thing (so long as you don’t go overboard…). Take it slow if you’re a beginner, you don’t want to end up looking like a clown haha! Slow and steady wins the race, right? Right.

Then just fill in the rest of your lips with the lipstick, and you’re done! POW! WOW! Look at those smackers!! Don’t you just feel fabulous? Add a slick of gloss if you want a little more glamour.

Giz a smile garjuz 😉

Hope you enjoyed!

Essence Soft & Natural Foundation Product Review

4 Jul

Essence is famous for its quality cosmetics.

When you’re on a student budget, it’s not always convenient to buy even the higher priced drugstore brands. I know it’s always been said that you should spend a little more on your foundation, as it’s the apparent ‘canvas’ onto which you paint your face. However, desperate times call for desperate measures, so I decided to buy a foundation from Essence. Well known for its vast array of colourful nail varnishes, and its ability to dupe (duplicate) products to a reasonably good standard for the price, I thought it couldn’t be that bad. Right?

I’ve photographed my second attempt of this foundation, and was pleased with the results. It’s their long-lasting Soft & Natural foundation. It does actually give a good days wear when set with powder. And yes, that is my face there & bare (please avoid looking at the enormous crater on the bottom of my face. Probably shouldn’t of mentioned it, but…YOLO?…)

So this is the before…(you can’t really see most of the horrible scars all over my face, thank God!)

I applied a small smudge onto my hand then rubbed it into my face. I have oily skin so don’t mind how oily my skin looks, it always looks like that, with any foundation.

And then this was the result.

This is after applying ONLY a translucent powder to get rid of the oil, and a teeeenny bit of blush so I don’t look so dead. As you can see, the dark circles under my eyes have lifted significantly, it has covers the many scars on my forehead, cheeks and chin, and reduced redness around my nose. I have a pink toned complexion and so I usually look for make up with yellow tones in it to counteract the pinkness, and this one seems to do the trick!

I would recommend this for girls just starting up their make up collection, also for students who are living like hobos in the finance department, like yours truly.

For the amount of money you’re spending, it truly is a miracle product in these hard recessionary times. It gives a large amount of coverage, whilst still giving the natural look. You don’t look completely caked in make up, as it lets your natural beauty shine through. Just make sure you get the colour foundation for your skin tone, this one fits me quite well (02 Sand Beige). You can buy it in Dunnes, Penneys and other drugstores, it’s pretty easy to find. This is their website if you want to take a gander.

Hope you enjoyed 🙂

Lush Tea Tree Water & Ultrabland Product Review

3 Jul

So about three months ago, I decided to take a trip into my local Lush store. Instead of aimlessly wandering around, breathing in the wonderful Lushy smells, occasionally stopping to look at a particularly extravagant new product, I thought I’d actually buy something (much to the pleasure of my more experienced Lush buying friends). I’ve always been reluctant to jump on the band wagon.

I told the (rather cute) salesman that I wanted a new cleanser and toner, and he suggested their Tea Tree Water and Ultrabland cleanser, as they were the most popular with most of their customers. I had previously researched their products so I knew that they were supposed to be good, so I said I’d give them a try.

Tea Tree Water.

I was a bit hesitant at first about the cleanser as I had never used one with a face mask-like consistency. I was also not keen on the thought of putting this goop on my fully make uped face.

After getting over the initial discomfort of putting the product on my face, I saw that it did take off my make up, but it wasn’t easy. Nothing like your Lancome eye makeup removers where you can swipe off your eyes in one swish I can tell you. But it does take it off. I also noticed that the cleanser left an oily residue on my skin. With already very oily/combination skin you can understand my reaction of not wanting any other unnecessary oils on my face.

I remembered the salesman told me that most people use the toner in conjunction with the cleanser, so I spritzed a bit of the toner on a cotton pad and washed it over my face. To my delight, it has taken away even more of my make up (the tiny bit that the cleanser had missed) and had made my skin feel clean, and fresh!

Using these products along with my moisturizer everyday and night began to be a pleasure, after I decided that I should wash my face first before using the cleanser, then leave it to remove the rest of my make up. this made things a lot smoother. I noticed that after a few weeks, my usually oily skin had become much more regulated, and my spots were a lot less frequent. My face felt softer, and healthier.

The salesman said that the products would last about 6 months, (I got the smallest sizes) but I knew that was a sales ploy straight off. However they do last you a good three months, and they are definitely worth it. They’re made with such natural ingredients (and in some cases, so few!) that they’re bound to be good for your skin.

After being initially skeptical, I’m now willing to say it loud and proud: I’m a massive Lush convert. Any other face regime now seems a tragedy in comparison. Sadly, I have run out of the products now and don’t have my local store in Bournemouth anymore as I’m at home in Wexford! Fortunately, you can buy them in their online shop here, I just hope I’m not too tempted and buy everything!

FYI: I have written this same post about three times now as I kept pressing wrong buttons by accident and not saving it, it’s the most disheartening feeling ever! And since it’s my first post I really wanted to make it good but I’ve written this so many times it may have killed it a little. Either way, it’s done now, and I’m relatively happy.  Hope you guys enjoy 🙂
